Happy V. Day

I am sitting here on valentines day and would just like to take a brief moment to wish every-one out there a happy valentines day.

I have just returned from a wonderful Valentines SINGLE Dinner. I have come home feeling slightly warm and fuzzy from wine and laughter. On this one "single awareness day" as my friend referred to it earlier I realized that this day can and should be fun no matter what status you are going into it.

Much like most things in life...it's all about attitude. And the best attitude can help with multitudes of disappointment.

My single valentines involved zero self pity as we too often see on tv. Instead it involved a warm friendly restaurant, too many glasses of wine and a very festive game of "secret valentine". As a result my evening was filled with love for my friends and chocolate in my belly. A perfect v-day in my opinion.

So thanks you Saint Valentine for bringing love in...even in unexpected forms

Xoxo

#GraziaFilmClub

The week before last my friends and I were given an absolute Thursday treat thanks to Grazia Magazine. We joined the Grazia Film Club and were spoilt with an evening that started at the Chanel booth at Stuttafords followed by a premier viewing of "Anna Kerenina".

Let's start with the first events of the evening. Chanel. Chanel was filled with the beautiful scents of Les Exclusives de Chanel which wafted out the door upon entry as we were handed a glass of Champagne. The next visual (other than the beautifully chic and classic Chanel decor) was that of Brad Pitt promoting the new pour home fragrance "Inevitable". Not a bad visual to keep you entertained whilst indulging in all the beautiful fragrances and awaiting the Chanel make-over that the Chanel staff masterfully and eagerly performed.

After my eyes were adorned with a subtle, glimmering gold and my lips slicked in summer's hottest fuchsia we were photographed briefly by the Grazia team and off we pranced to watch the premier viewing of "Anna Kerenina".

Next, The Movie. Now I am no film critic but here is my meager attempt...

The film was spectacular and bold...to say the least. Having already watched a couple of film adaptations of novels directed Joe Write (namely "Atonement" and "Pride and Prejudice" I expected to see much of the same. In the past these movies have been extremely respectful of the novel but they were so respectful that they were almost shy. "Anna Kerenina" was nothing like that! It was Bold.

Unless you've been sleeping under a rock lately you will know that this whole movie takes place on a stage setting. This gutsy change suits the gutsy content of the movie perfectly. It allowed a dynamic that I have never seen in a movie before and added a certain surrealist element to the movie which I thoroughly enjoyed.

But the real show stopper of the movie was the wardrobe. Set in imperial Russia the wardrobe would have been demure but much like the set the wardrobe was equally bold. The dresses were beautiful. They were a beautiful combination of avant guard and imperialistic. The colours and embellishments were a feast for the eyes. My favorite aspect was the combination of fairly modern necklines and jewelry together with grand old fashioned dresses and skirts. Having watched it I can definitely understand the Oscar nod that the wardrobe of this film has attained.

All in all it was a wonderful evening and a night to remember. I cannot wait for the next event.

If I thought the night couldn't be any better then I got featured in the magazine!! Thank you Grazia Film Club
